About Me
My name is Kristen Kay Brock and I am a classical and jazz musician who specializes in performance on the saxophone, but am proficient on flute, clarinet, horn, and trumpet as well. I am an enthusiastic and patient person with a genuine interest in others and I enjoy helping my students feel a greater sense of pride and confidence in themselves as they achieve their goals. It has always been easy for me to see the value in others, but teaching has allowed me to let people to see that value in themselves. I appreciate those for who they are and am able to find myself within a wide range of people. I am able to focus on others in a way that lets them know their situation is important to me. I love the uniqueness born from diversity, which allows me to develop deeper and more meaningful, as well as lasting, relationships. I want to help others express themselves more freely, to reduce stress levels and increase happiness. I want to help people feel good about themselves and guide them on their journey to a happier and more rewarding life.
Biography
Kristen Brock grew up in Glendale, Arizona, and received a Bachelor of Music Performance from Northern Arizona University. During middle school and high school, Brock studied for 7 years with saxophonist and clarinetist, Anita Handelsman, as well as 2 years with saxophonist, Tony Vaca. During college, Brock studied for 5 years with renowned saxophonist, Dr. Jonathan Bergeron and took a private baritone saxophone lesson with baritone specialist, Noah Bedrin. Brock performed baritone saxophone in the NAU Jazz ensemble I for 7 years, under the direction of Joel DiBartolo and Chris Finet. Throughout high school and college, Kristen was also a member of the Division I Drum and Bugle Corps, The Arizona Academy, for 6 years.

Mrs. Brock has over 19 years of experience teaching private lessons on saxophone, flute, clarinet, French horn, and trumpet and has put on various woodwind clinics and masterclasses in Flagstaff and the Greater Phoenix Area. Brock was the director of the Ron Phillips New Horizons Jazz Band in Glendale, AZ, for 4 years, as well as the Woodwind Technician for the Verrado High School Marching Band in Buckeye, AZ, under the direction of Tracy Meldrum for 6 years. Kristen has also taught for 9 years as a Marching Instructor and Saxophone Technician for the Rincon/University High School Summer Marching Band Camps, under the direction of Jeff Marchant and 1 year with the Deer Valley High School Marching Band under the direction of Evan Dixon. During the 2017-2018 school year, Brock was also the K-5 General Music Teacher for Palms Christian School in Surprise, AZ.

Kristen has performed with the Arizona Wind Symphony, the Fountain Hills Saxophone Quartet, the Big Band Connection, and many famous musicians, such as The Temptations, The Brubeck Brothers, Randy Brecker, Dave Liebman, Bobby Shew, Dave Pietro, Conrad Herwig, Jim McNeely, Andy Martin, and Brice Winston.
